Bohemian Creamery Closes Shop
Bohemian Creamery of Sebastopol was one of the most popular destinations for me in the North Bay and it closed two days ago, per a post on Instagram on December 20, 2024:
“Happy Holidays! And...an exit.
Our business is up at the end of the year. This...this is it!
You've got two more weekends to come and see us. Please come and visit! Everything in the shop (cheese and goods) will be 50% OFF for the rest of the time we're open and that's December 20, 21, 22, 27, 28, and 29th. And then it's a wrap -- so please stock up!
Not a local? That's OK! Nobody's perfect! We're happy to ship you some cheese over the next couple of weeks, before the 31st. Grab a gift basket while you can -- we'll discount 30% OFF shipped cheese. (Sorry we can't do more, shipping's expensive! But the cheese! The cheese is good. Share it while you can.)
We've loved being a part of your lives. Making cheese and sharing it with others is a blast. We hope you've enjoyed it. We certainly have.
Peace and love on earth in 2024 and onward,
Your Bohemians”

Bohemian Creamery, Sebastopol
This small cheese shop offered about a dozen cheeses (goat, cow, sheep) from local farms. They often had a soft serve as well (a favorite was the cajeta flavor).
These funky cheeses were always a big hit with visitors and their generous tasting samples was always a welcoming experience. One could even get a cheese plate and enjoy it around the side with a nice view of the valley (excellent date idea).
Bohemiam Creamery was started by two divorced women Lisa Gottriech, operations analyst and Miriam Block, worked in software after they met in 2008.
It opened up a storefront around 2016 after it built up a strong following from the local community (per KQED article) and popular restaurants like NOPA and Quince.
If you love cheese or spent anytime in wine country or Russian River, you knew this place very well. I have introduced many friends to this place over the years and shared it as my weekly recommendation back in March with everyone on my email list.
Please continue to support incredible local businesses like this. This is one of the main reasons I started this newsletter back in 2022 and now have amassed 18,000+ subscribers.
I carefully curate recommendations for my newsletter every week, and if you pay close attention, you will find some incredible hidden gems like this one.
