Weekly Recommendation
This week’s recommendation is to treat yourself. There is a lot going on in the city and world around us, and it’s likely not going to let up anytime soon. It’s going to be a marathon.
I am reminded by a friend Paul, who I use to run into time to time at the bar seats of one of my favorite restaurants in the city. He is around twice my age, was always alone, wore a nice blazer and always had three pens in his pocket. It was around the 2nd or 3rd time seeing him at said restaurant when I mustered up the courage to chat with him and learned a great deal about the city, history and his life.
Paul knows how to treat himself. He’d take the bus over from his home, order the cheapest beer on the menu, and sit in the best seat at the restaurant with amazing decor in the city. He’d watch some videos, chat with the bartenders during slow times and always made friends at the bar. Chances are, some of you know him.
Whether it’s reading a book in your favorite chair/couch in town, grabbing an ice cream and going for a nice walk in Dolores Park at sunset, packing a hot tea and walking along the piers or boardwalks or just volunteering somewhere to put a smile on someone’s face, do something that puts a smile on face.
